Introduction

Hi!
Welcome to Sew Knit Home! First of all, I'd just like to say I'm not an expert. I love sewing, knitting, trying new recipes (which may or may not work out well), and tea. In fact, I'm drinking of cup of Darjeeling while writing this post. During the spring and summer, I also attempt gardening, otherwise known as engaging in battle with the gophers and rabbits. But I'm not an expert.
This month marks one year since the completion of my first knitting project. It was a scarf, done in fancy slip-stitch ribbing. There have been many projects since then, because knitting at night while watching Netflix is very relaxing. But initially I started knitting about a year ago because of my nana. She was upset that she never got a chance to teach me to knit before she got arthritis. She was always knitting hats, scarves, and sweaters. I remember she had a pile of metal knitting needles in all sizes, colors, and brands. When I decided to learn knitting, I started out with metal needles, and I've stuck with those. Most of my knitting knowledge has come from YouTube videos, library books, and knitting blogs.
Sewing goes a little farther back. I started sewing when I was about 14, after seeing some material at Walmart that I thought would make a great skirt. It was a tropical, floral print. So I picked up a pattern to go with it. At the time, I didn't realize that patterns came with directions (but who reads the directions, right?). But then there were SATs and college applications and college, with midterms and finals. . . so I stopped sewing after a couple of years, and didn't pick it up again until about three years ago. That's when I realized there were directions, and started using Google and YouTube to figure out what a lot of the terms and techniques meant. I think I'm probably an intermediate beginner.
So let's see. What else do you need to know about Sew Knit Home? The purpose of this blog is to share projects, especially the problems I encounter on projects (because there are always problems, lol) and the methods I end up using to fix them, as well as any other tips I come across, and maybe a few tutorials. Hopefully these will help other beginners and we can improve our skills together! 😊
Until next time, happy crafting!
