Pro-craft-ination

It's hard to believe it's already August. But the zucchini and summer squash stacked on the counter prove it is. There's something about July, and August, that seems to make it hard to start/finish projects. Sure, I've managed to do a couple of things. This doily, for example, which now sits under my yarn bowl:
It's a free pattern from Ravelry, by the way, and it knit up in only one day. This other doily (also a free pattern) was done in two days. Both are knit in cotton yarn.
It hasn't been blocked or starched yet, but that part should get finished today.
I've found doily knitting to be very fun, since it combines two of my favorite types of knitting: lace, and in-the-round. There is also a cool cast on that works great for projects like these. It's called the magic ring cast on. This video has a great, close-up tutorial on how to do it.
But despite these projects, I've fallen into what I've started calling pro-craft-ination. It's a lot like procrastination. Ok, it is procrastination, only as it relates to crafting. It's trouble picking a next project, especially if that next project is kind of large. It's come to my attention that I really should make myself a couple new pairs of pjs. But. . . I just can't decide which pattern to use. A nightgown? A short-sleeved top and shorts set? Tank top and shorts? Long sleeves and pants? I just don't know.
So instead. . .  I re-organized my fabric and interfacing stash. Then I attempted to clear off my desk (it didn't work; my desk is never completely clear because it always seems to have at least a few craft supplies on it, like knitting patterns and rulers). Then I decided that my work space had to be more organized. I picked up one of those canvas-drawer carts that are intended as dorm room furniture. I also got a pencil box and some tupperware-type containers.
The yarn stash is now re-organized and sorted. All the little items like the fabric tape measure, mini slide ruler, pins, calculator, etc, are sorted and stored away. Even my knitting bag has been sorted. And yet. . . I still haven't picked a pattern. Pro-craft-ination! Last week I even started a project to re-organize my closet, and considered re-organizing my sock drawer. I'm sure y'all know what I mean.
But now I have decided to try giving myself a deadline: one week to pick a pattern. Any pattern. Any material from the stash. Too broad? Maybe. We'll see how it goes.
